Nigerian troops have arrested two suspected high-profile collaborators of the terrorist group Boko Haram in Borno state as part of ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.
Newspapers News reports that the suspects were apprehended by troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Biu Local Government Area following credible intelligence.
Security sources revealed that the suspects were arrested at Miringa Market, where they were allegedly coordinating activities for a sleeper cell and helping to store weapons for insurgents.
The operation was carried out by troops of the 231 Tank Battalion in collaboration with local hunters, highlighting increased cooperation between the military and community-based security groups in the fight against terrorism.
Items recovered from the suspects include mobile phones, wristwatches, and a RAM module, while the suspects are currently in military custody for further investigation.
In a related development, troops also arrested suspected informants linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in another part of the state, as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks.
The arrests come amid renewed security operations in Borno and surrounding areas, where authorities continue to target logistics suppliers and collaborators aiding insurgent groups.
