Nigerian Army Donates Educational Materials To Anambra School

Residents of Lilu community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State gathered in excitement as the Nigerian Army distributed educational materials to pupils and staff of Ogwumabiri Primary School.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the outreach programme featured the donation of school bags and exercise books to support learning and encourage academic development among the pupils.

Speaking during the presentation, Brigadier-General S. A. Jimoh, who represented the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Oluremi Fadairo, said the initiative was part of efforts to strengthen civil-military relations while promoting education in local communities.

“This gesture reflects the Army’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging among communities and inspiring young learners to pursue academic excellence,” he said.

He added that education remains a vital tool for national progress.

Education is a “legacy and a strong tool for social engineering, economic well-being, and positive development.”

Jimoh also urged both pupils and teachers to make good use of the materials to improve academic performance. He reassured residents of the Army’s continued commitment to ensuring safety and security in the school, the community, and the state at large.

Call for Peace and Community Return

Also speaking at the event, Lt.-Col. Olabisi Ayeni, Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 82 Division, highlighted the role of peace in driving sustainable development.

She described children as “the future of society” and encouraged residents who had previously left the area due to insecurity to return, noting that normalcy is gradually returning to the community.

School Appreciates Support

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Head Teacher, Mrs. Grace Nnubia, expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army and assured that the materials would be properly used to sustain high academic standards.

Pupils welcomed the support with enthusiasm, while community members commended the Army for helping to restore peace and revive social life in the area.

The outreach programme was attended by several military officers, including Colonel Madaki Yakubu, Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support), Onitsha, along with other senior officers from the 82 Division.
