Ayodele Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State, has declared that Nyesom Wike, minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is the national leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Gatekeepers News reports that Fayose made the remarks on Sunday during the PDP national convention held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, where delegates from across the country gathered for the event.

Speaking to supporters at the convention, Fayose emphasised the importance of unity within the party and acknowledged Wike’s role in leading the proceedings.

He said, “Today, we are having our convention ably led the national leader of our party, Nyesom Wike, and we made him so because of his contributions. He leads, and we follow.”

Fayose also noted that Ekiti State was fully represented at the convention, adding, “Yes, we are here. We are 88. There is only one PDP.”

He urged party members to respect court rulings affecting the party’s affairs, saying, “The moment we have a pronouncement of the court, we must abide by it. Sometimes we demean the judiciary by ourselves. We can appeal a judgment.”

The convention saw the presence of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as Wike led delegates through the scheduled activities of the event.
