Operatives of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have arrested three suspects over their alleged involvement in romance scams and document forgery.

Gatekeepers News reports that the suspects; Tega Emmanuel, Jacob Olatunde, and Gift Okubakpere  were apprehended by officers attached to Zone 2 headquarters of the police.

The police said the suspects are being investigated for their roles in fraudulent activities, including online romance scams, where perpetrators typically deceive victims by pretending to establish emotional relationships before defrauding them of money.

Authorities also linked the suspects to forgery-related offences, indicating that fake documents may have been used to facilitate their operations.

The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to clamp down on cybercrime and financial fraud across the country, particularly crimes involving online deception and identity manipulation.

Police authorities have yet to disclose further details on the scale of the operation or whether more suspects are being tracked in connection with the case.
