The Nigeria Police Force in Katsina State has presented welfare cheques totaling ₦13,353,589.45 to families of officers who died in the line of duty, as part of the 2026 National Police Day celebrations.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, handed over the cheques to 32 families and next of kin at the Command Headquarters, praising the officers for their resilience, sacrifice, and commitment.

Speaking at the event, held under the theme “Community Partnership: Building Trust”, CP Fage highlighted other command initiatives, including sanitation exercises at Katsina Central Motor Park, medical outreaches, distribution of treated mosquito nets, and public enlightenment campaigns on drug abuse, traffic regulations, and electoral offences.

“Today we have about 40 cheques that the IGP has given us for the deserving family members of deceased officers. I am glad that 20 per cent of the beneficiaries are already here. Let me assure other officers that the current welfare package of the present regime will be rejigged and implemented as due,” CP Fage said.

One beneficiary, Mrs Zainab Bishir, mother of seven, promised to use the funds responsibly. “We will surely use the money judiciously by investing in business to support our orphans left behind,” she said.

The welfare initiative is part of efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to support officers’ families and strengthen community trust.
