Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote has been named in TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2026, joining a diverse group of global leaders, innovators, and cultural figures.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the prestigious TIME100 list, released on April 15, recognises individuals whose ideas, leadership, and actions are shaping the future across politics, business, culture, and society.

Among others recognised in the Titans category are Artemis II mission commander Reid Wiseman, tech leaders Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan, as well as philanthropists Michael Dell and Susan Dell. American fashion entrepreneur Ralph Lauren is also included.

In the Pioneer category, honourees include Kiran Musunuru and Rebecca Ahrens-Nicklas for breakthroughs in genetic therapy, alongside Aaron Williams for advancements in heart transplant readiness.

The list also highlights influential figures in entertainment and culture, including Indian actor Ranbir Kapoor, actress Dakota Johnson, and Kate Hudson for their cultural impact.

As founder and president of the Dangote Group, Africa’s largest indigenous industrial conglomerate, Dangote has played a key role in advancing industrialisation across the continent. His investments span cement production, agriculture, food processing, infrastructure, and energy, helping reduce dependence on imports while generating millions of jobs.

In its citation, TIME praised Dangote’s vision of building globally competitive African industries using local resources, noting that his recent large-scale investments in energy and manufacturing reflect a long-term commitment to economic transformation.

Beyond business, Dangote’s philanthropic efforts through the Aliko Dangote Foundation continue to support healthcare, education, nutrition, disaster relief, and economic empowerment initiatives across Africa.
