Delivery Of New Trains To Boost Red Line Capacity

Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that Lagos State has received a new set of 24-car trains to enhance operations on the Red Line rail system.

Gatekeepers Newreports that in a post shared on X on Thursday, the governor said the additional trains would increase capacity, shorten waiting times, and improve daily commuting for residents.

“We have received a new set of 24-car trains to strengthen the Lagos Red Line fleet,” Sanwo-Olu said.

“This will improve capacity, reduce wait times and make daily commuting easier for Lagosians.

“We remain focused on building a transport system that is efficient and reliable for everyone. That is still our goal.”

The Lagos Red Line commenced commercial operations on October 15, 2024, after it was inaugurated in February by Bola Tinubu.

The rail corridor runs from Agbado to Oyingbo, with key stations including Iju, Agege, Mushin, Oshodi, and Yaba.

The service is expected to transport about 500,000 passengers daily along the route, significantly easing movement across the state.
