The Federal Government has announced the transition from physical to fully online verification of academic credentials, a move aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and service delivery.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Federal Ministry of Education disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade.
According to the ministry, the shift aligns with the government’s broader digital transformation agenda and its commitment to leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, ensure data integrity, and support evidence-based policymaking in the education sector.
“With the introduction of the new system, all applications for authentication and evaluation of academic credentials will now be processed strictly online through the Ministry’s official verification portal,” the statement partly read.
The ministry explained that applicants seeking authentication or evaluation of their credentials must now register and upload all required documents via the official portal.
It added that physical visits to the ministry for verification purposes are no longer required, as the entire process has been automated.
The new system, according to the ministry, is expected to simplify procedures, reduce processing time, and strengthen the credibility of academic credential verification in Nigeria.
Applicants were advised to adhere strictly to the new guidelines to ensure smooth processing of their requests.
In addition, candidates are required to contact their respective institutions to forward academic transcripts directly from official email addresses to the ministry’s designated verification email for proper authentication and processing.
