US Warns Iran Of ‘Devastating’ Response Over Strait Of Hormuz Threats

The United States has warned Iran that any attack on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz would trigger a “devastating” response, even as it insists it is not seeking conflict.

Gatekeepers Newreports that speaking on Tuesday, Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, said Washington would act decisively if its forces or international shipping routes are threatened.

“We’re not looking for a fight. But Iran also cannot be allowed to block innocent countries and their goods from an international waterway,” Hegseth told reporters.

“If you attack American troops or innocent commercial shipping, you will face overwhelming and devastating American firepower.”

Meanwhile, Dan Caine, a top US military officer, said American forces remain prepared for possible escalation.

He noted that while the US has shown restraint, it should not be interpreted as weakness.

“The US Central Command and the rest of the joint force remain ready to resume major combat operations against Iran if ordered to do so,” Caine said.

“No adversary should mistake our current restraint with a lack of resolve,” he added.
