Two Students Arrested Over Murder of Kogi Student

Two students of Prince Abubakar Audu University have been arrested in connection with the killing of David Solomon, a 300-level Biochemistry student of the institution.

Gatekeepers News reports that the arrests were confirmed by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Salisu Ogbo, during a condolence visit to the deceased’s family in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

According to the university management, the suspects were apprehended by campus security operatives about two hours after the incident and were subsequently handed over to the police for investigation and possible prosecution.

Reports indicate that Solomon was shot dead on Friday by unidentified gunmen who attacked him within the university community. The incident is suspected to be linked to cult-related violence, although authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.

Speaking on the tragedy, Ogbo described the incident as painful and distressing, noting that it had thrown the entire university community into mourning. He said the institution would work closely with security agencies to uncover everyone involved in the crime and ensure they are brought to justice.

The vice-chancellor also reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism, violence and other criminal activities. He added that measures were being strengthened to improve security across the campus and protect students and staff.
