Troops Arrest 10 Suspected Terrorist Informants In Niger

Troops of Nigerian Army have arrested 10 suspected terrorist informants and collaborators during a security operation in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Gatekeepers News reports that the suspects were apprehended during a fighting patrol conducted by soldiers operating from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Audu Fari.

According to reports, the operation took place at about 10:05 a.m. on Thursday and covered several communities, including Tungan Yaboye, Kumble, Sabon Gari, Dogon Ruwa, Lambu, Tungan Isah, Rafi Maigudu, Swashi, Guffanti, Kwanan Demu Junction, Papiri and Gallah. The patrol was aimed at flushing out terrorist elements and dismantling networks providing them with information and logistical support.  

The operation led to the clearance of suspected hideouts and the arrest of 10 individuals believed to be working with terrorist groups in the area.

Although troops did not encounter any armed terrorists during the patrol, military authorities said the operation successfully disrupted suspected support networks aiding criminal activities in the region.  

The suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing further interrogation as security agencies continue efforts to curb terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes in parts of Niger State and the wider North-Central region.
