Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has launched a whistleblower initiative offering a N500,000 cash reward to members of the public who provide credible information leading to the arrest of individuals illegally using the company’s branded trucks.
Gatekeepers News reports that the programme is part of efforts to protect the integrity of its nationwide logistics operations and curb unauthorised haulage activities.
The company said only approved products are permitted to be transported by trucks belonging to its subsidiaries. Under the guidelines, Dangote Cement trucks are restricted to cement, limestone, clinker, coal and high-grade gypsum, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are authorised to carry only sugar products. NASCON Allied Industries vehicles are designated for Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, Dangote Packaging trucks are for bags and packaging materials, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals trucks are approved for polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser trucks are limited to transporting urea fertiliser.
DIL warned that any of its trucks found carrying unauthorised goods would be treated as engaging in illegal haulage. The company said drivers and owners of such goods risk arrest, confiscation of the cargo and prosecution. It added that law enforcement agencies, including the police, have been authorised to arrest offenders involved in unauthorised commercial haulage using Dangote-branded trucks.
To support investigations, the company urged whistleblowers to provide details such as the truck’s registration number, cab number, location, description of the goods being transported, vehicle colour and photographs where possible.
Dedicated hotlines have also been established for reporting suspected illegal haulage activities. Dangote said the initiative is aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and compliance across its logistics network while protecting company assets and lawful business operations.
