The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its recruitment portal for Nigerians interested in working as ad-hoc personnel during the 2027 general elections.

Gatekeepers News reports that the exercise is being conducted through INEC’s Personnel Recruitment System and is open to eligible applicants seeking to support the conduct of the elections across the country.

According to the commission, the application portal will remain open until midnight on November 18, 2026.

INEC urged interested Nigerians to complete their applications before the deadline and ensure they meet the requirements for their preferred positions.

The positions available include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers, Registration Area Technical Support personnel, Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers.

Applicants are required to meet the qualifications and other eligibility conditions prescribed for each category.

The commission said eligible members of the National Youth Service Corps, students of tertiary institutions and qualified public servants may apply for some of the positions, subject to the applicable requirements.

INEC also stated that applicants, except those applying for technical positions, are generally expected to be residents of the state selected during the application process.

As part of the eligibility requirements, applicants must not be members of any political party or have demonstrated support for a candidate or political party.

The recruitment is part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, which will involve the deployment of temporary personnel to polling units and other designated locations nationwide.

The commission advised prospective applicants to use only its official recruitment platform and warned against fraudulent websites or individuals demanding payment in exchange for recruitment.

INEC urged interested Nigerians to carefully review the requirements for their preferred positions and submit their applications before the November 18 deadline.
