Nigeria’s headline inflation rate declined slightly to 15.91 per cent in June 2026, down from 15.93 per cent recorded in May, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Gatekeepers News reports that the marginal decline of 0.02 percentage points marks the first drop in the country’s inflation rate in three months.
In the report released on Wednesday, the NBS said the June figures reflected a slight easing in the pace of rising consumer prices.
“The June 2026 headline inflation rate showed a decrease of 0.02% compared to the May 2026 headline inflation rate,” the bureau stated.
The NBS also reported a moderation in month-on-month inflation, which fell to 1.66 per cent in June from 1.75 per cent in May.
“On a month-on-month basis, the headline inflation rate in June 2026 was 1.66%, which was 0.09% lower than the rate recorded in May 2026 at 1.75%,” the report added.
The latest figures indicate a modest slowdown in inflationary pressures, although the overall cost of goods and services remains elevated across the country.
