Troops Arrest Pregnant Woman Over Alleged Terrorist Supply Mission

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a pregnant woman allegedly transporting supplies intended for Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in Borno State.

Gatekeepers Newreports that according to security sources quoted by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Falmata Adamu, was apprehended on July 13 during routine checkpoint operations along the Mandaragirau–Biu road.

The sources said the suspect was stopped after troops discovered items hidden beneath her civilian clothing during a search.

Items recovered from her included 17 torchlights and 19 Tiger batteries, which investigators suspect were being transported to a terrorist hideout.

“The recovered items included 17 torchlights and 19 Tiger batteries, which are suspected to have been destined for a terrorist enclave,” the publication quoted the sources as saying.

The suspect is currently in military custody, while preliminary investigations are underway to establish the intended recipients of the items and determine any possible links to terrorist logistics networks.

According to Zagazola Makama, the arrest forms part of Operation Hadin Kai’s ongoing efforts to disrupt supply chains and cut off logistics support to Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters operating in the North-East.

The publication added that although the security situation across the theatre remains relatively calm, troops have continued to maintain a high level of operational readiness due to the unpredictable nature of the insurgency.
