The Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nura Abdullahi, has been abducted by suspected gunmen following a late-night attack on his official residence that left four security operatives dead.
Gatekeepers News reports that the incident occurred at about 11 p.m. on Saturday in Bungudu town, where the attackers reportedly stormed the chairman’s residence and engaged his security detail in a gun battle before whisking him away. Halliru Soja, a staff member of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), and a Point of Sale (POS) operator were also abducted during the attack.
According to reports, the assailants overpowered the security personnel guarding the residence, killing two police officers and two vigilantes before fleeing with the victims.
Security forces have launched efforts to rescue the abducted council chairman and the other victims, while investigations into the attack are ongoing.
