Oge Elumelu has unveiled the maiden edition of the Africa and Everywhere Festival, a one-day careers and internship fair aimed at helping young Africans secure jobs, internships and practical career opportunities.
Gatekeepers News reports that speaking at the event in Lagos, Elumelu said the initiative was inspired by the success of her podcast, The Africa and Everywhere, which has completed two seasons, featuring 20 episodes and attracting more than 60,000 plays across over 80 countries. She explained that while the podcast opened conversations about career paths across different industries, the festival was created to ensure those discussions lead to tangible employment opportunities for young people.
The event featured panel sessions on landing a first job, career advancement, personal finance and entrepreneurship. It also included a “speed-dating” internship and careers fair, giving participants the chance to interact directly with recruiters and employers while gaining practical career advice.
Industry leaders including Toni Sanni, Sam Nwanze, Obong Idiong, Faith Nelson-Ojeaga, Yetunde Ayeni and Tomilayo Esan shared insights on career growth and employability, urging graduates to keep their CVs concise, use professional email addresses and highlight relevant experience. Another session focused on financial literacy, while the concluding panel explored entrepreneurship and business-building.
The initiative builds on Elumelu’s earlier internship programme, which attracted thousands of applications and seeks to bridge the gap between talented young Africans and employers by equipping participants with workplace skills and expanding access to career opportunities across the continent.
