Federal Government has commissioned the remodelled Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), as part of ongoing efforts to modernise Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure.
Gatekeeepers News reports that speaking at the inauguration on Wednesday, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said the upgraded terminal reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to improving airport facilities and enhancing passenger experience across the country. He described Kano as the commercial hub of northern Nigeria and a strategic gateway for domestic and international air travel.
Keyamo also announced the approval of ₦46 billion for the resurfacing and reconstruction of the airport’s second runway and taxiways. He said the project is expected to improve operational efficiency, strengthen safety standards and support the growing volume of passenger and cargo traffic through the airport.
According to the minister, the remodelling of the domestic terminal forms part of the Tinubu administration’s broader agenda to upgrade aviation infrastructure nationwide, improve service delivery and position Nigeria as a leading aviation hub in Africa. He added that investments in critical airport infrastructure would boost economic activities, trade and regional connectivity.
Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal serves domestic passengers using the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, one of Nigeria’s busiest airports and a major gateway to the northern region. Federal Government said the latest upgrades are aimed at providing a safer, more efficient and passenger-friendly travel experience.
