The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, has inaugurated several educational projects at the Command Day Secondary School, Oshodi, Lagos, as part of efforts to improve learning infrastructure and enhance students’ academic experience.
Gatekeepers News reports that the newly commissioned projects include a 300-seat Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre, a Mathematics laboratory, a remodelled conference room, a refurbished coaster bus, and newly acquired laptop computers.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Babalola urged military commanders to leave lasting legacies by improving the environments in which they serve through purposeful leadership.
He said the projects reflect the Nigerian Army’s commitment to promoting education and improving welfare within its formations, adding that such initiatives contribute to raising standards while boosting the morale of personnel.
“If you follow the trend in 81 Division, almost every month, we commission projects and these projects we commissioned today are to benefit our children directly,” Babalola said.
“So, you see, when the soldiers are on the frontlines, they would have no cause to worry about what is happening on the home front.
“The commandant has tried to ensure that this project is useful to teachers, students, and the community of Oshodi.”
The GOC noted that investing in educational infrastructure remains an important part of the division’s efforts to support the families of military personnel and provide a conducive learning environment for students.
Also speaking, the Commandant of Command Day Secondary School, D.S. Yakubu, expressed appreciation to the GOC and the leadership of the Nigerian Army for their continued support, describing the newly inaugurated facilities as a major boost to teaching and learning in the school.
