The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced a leadership transition as its outgoing Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, formally handed over the affairs of the examination body to his successor, Professor Segun Aina.
Gatekeepers News reports that the handover ceremony, which began on Friday at JAMB’s headquarters in Abuja, marks the end of Oloyede’s decade-long tenure, during which he oversaw sweeping reforms in Nigeria’s tertiary admissions system.
The event was attended by senior government officials, members of JAMB’s management, staff and other key stakeholders.
Professor Aina is expected to officially assume office as the new Registrar following the transfer of authority, with expectations that he will consolidate on the reforms introduced under Oloyede while tackling emerging challenges in the country’s admissions process.
In his farewell address, Oloyede expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve as Registrar, while thanking members of staff, stakeholders and development partners for their support throughout his tenure.
He also appealed to them to extend the same cooperation to his successor to ensure a seamless transition and continued progress at the examination body.
The outgoing Registrar attributed JAMB’s achievements over the past 10 years to the collective commitment, professionalism and integrity of the Board’s workforce and its partners.
He expressed confidence that the institution would continue to strengthen the reforms and innovations introduced during his administration while remaining committed to transparency, accountability and excellence in Nigeria’s tertiary admissions process.
