Zenith Bank Plc has confirmed that hackers gained unauthorised access to part of its database, exposing limited customer information in a cybersecurity incident that the bank said is under investigation.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a notification sent to customers, the bank disclosed that the breach resulted in the exposure of limited personal information, including customers’ email addresses and phone numbers.

It, however, stressed that no sensitive banking details such as passwords, account numbers, card details, PINs or one-time passwords (OTPs) were compromised. The bank also assured customers that its banking systems, digital platforms and customer funds remain secure and fully operational.

Zenith Bank said the cyberattack is believed to be part of a broader global campaign targeting multiple organisations. It added that it has activated its incident response protocols, strengthened security measures and is working with cybersecurity experts to investigate the breach and prevent further unauthorised access.

The bank advised customers to remain vigilant against phishing attempts, avoid clicking suspicious links or responding to unsolicited emails or messages requesting personal or banking information, and report any suspicious activity immediately through its official customer support channels.
