The Nigerian Army has declared 38 senior leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) wanted following intelligence gathered during ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the Lake Chad region of Borno State.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Wednesday, the Headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI said the breakthrough followed offensive operations in which troops recovered a camcorder and other intelligence materials from insurgents.
According to the military, forensic analysis of the recovered devices led to the identification of several key ISWAP commanders and their locations within the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun axis in Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas of Borno State.
Among those declared wanted is Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, identified as the Wali (Governor) of ISWAP and one of the group’s most wanted leaders operating in the Lake Chad Basin.
The list also includes Muhammad Jidda, popularly known as “The One-Handed Man,” who was identified as ISWAP’s deputy leader and Amirul Jaish, as well as Hamad Abu Hanifa, described as the group’s Amirul-Fiya.
The army announced that a financial reward would be offered to anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa.
It assured members of the public that all information received would be treated with strict confidentiality and that the identities of informants would be fully protected.
