Francis Fadahunsi, senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, has honoured an invitation from the Osun State Police Command over his viral comment in which he allegedly instructed supporters to “kill” members of the Accord Party.
Gatekeepers News reports that Fadahunsi arrived at the Osogbo police headquarters, the state capital, at about 2pm on Wednesday.
The senator was invited after a video circulated showing him addressing All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Yoruba during a campaign in the state.
In the video, Fadahunsi was heard saying: “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too.”
The comment sparked widespread outrage on social media, with calls for the senator to explain the statement.
Fadahunsi later said the comment was metaphorical, explaining that he meant his supporters should defeat the Accord Party at the ballot box through lawful and peaceful means.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, the police invited the senator to “clarify the circumstances” surrounding the statements allegedly made during the APC campaign in Ilesa.
Meanwhile, the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has said Fadahunsi should be held responsible for any violence directed at Accord members.
The council alleged that the video supported its claims that thugs and fake police officers had been deployed to Ilase, Fadahunsi’s hometown, and other communities across Obokun, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West Local Government Areas.
The development comes ahead of the Osun governorship election, amid heightened concerns over political violence and the need for parties and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully.
