Christian And Muslim Leaders Unite For Peaceful Coexistence In Borno

Christian and Muslim leaders in Borno State on Monday called on adherents of both faiths to continue to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding and tolerance, warning against divisive messages capable of creating tension and undermining the relative peace in the state.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the religious leaders emphasised the need for Christians and Muslims to work together in strengthening unity and peaceful relations across communities.

This was made known when the religious leaders converged at the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church iin Maiduguri, the Borno State capital .

Leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movenent Church , Pastor Joshua Akeredolu Michael disclose that the religious leaders will not relent but will continue to promote peacefull coexistence amongst adherents .

” We intend to archive sustained peace not only in Borno State but in the country at large . We will continue to bring Christian and Muslim leaders together under one roof to promte peaceful coexistence ” Pastor Michael who is also the Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) , Borno State Chapter said .

The gathering urged religious leaders to use their positions to preach peace, tolerance and respect for one another, rather than making statements capable of deepening religious or communal divisions.

The leaders also cautioned the public against falling victim to inflammatory messages circulated by what they described as unpatriotic clerics and individuals seeking to exploit religious sentiments for personal or ulterior motives.
