National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 101-year-old great-grandmother, Esther Ogunmabo, for allegedly selling cannabis in Ilisan, Ogun State.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ogunmabo was arrested on August 15, 2026, after NDLEA operatives found her with 90 grammes of skunk, a strain of cannabis, packaged in small quantities for sale.
According to the agency, the centenarian admitted selling the substance to residents in the community. She reportedly told investigators that she became involved in the illicit trade after a fire destroyed her provisions shop.
Ogunmabo also disclosed that one of her daughters, who lives in Lagos, supplied her with cannabis every four days for onward sale in small quantities.
The daughter linked to the alleged supply has been arrested, while NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), directed that Ogunmabo be granted bail and referred for counselling due to her advanced age.
NDLEA said the arrest formed part of its recent nationwide operations against illicit drug trafficking and abuse. (NDLEA)
