President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Abel Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF).
Gatekeepers News reports that Enitan took the oath of office before the president at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, formally succeeding Didi Walson-Jack, who retired from the federal civil service after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
The presidency announced Enitan’s appointment on August 19.
His swearing-in followed a meeting with President Tinubu and his predecessor, Walson-Jack, at the State House on August 21 as part of arrangements to ensure a smooth transition.
Enitan, an indigene of Osun State, was the most senior permanent secretary in the federal civil service when he was appointed to the position.
He had served as a permanent secretary for seven years and seven months, with postings to the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice-President.
Before his appointment as Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Enitan was the permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education.
Born on December 12, 1966, Enitan attended Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan, and the College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife. He graduated from the University of Lagos in 1988 with a BSc in Finance and Banking and obtained an MSc in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia, in 2015.
With his assumption of office, Enitan takes charge of the federal civil service as the Tinubu administration continues its reforms aimed at improving efficiency, professionalism and service delivery.
President Tinubu charged the new civil service head to consolidate existing reforms and innovations while deepening professionalism and efficiency across the service.
The president also urged Enitan to build a more effective and responsive bureaucracy capable of supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
