Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former National Vice-Chairman of the party in the South-South, has died.
Gatekeepers News reports that Orbih, a prominent figure in Edo politics and an ally of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, died on Monday, August 31, 2026.
His family announced his death in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, Esq., on behalf of the Orbih family. The family described the loss as one announced with “profound sadness and a heavy heart” while submitting to the will of God.
Orbih was a major political figure in Edo State and played a prominent role in the PDP over several years. He served as the party’s Edo State chairman before rising to become its National Vice-Chairman for the South-South. He was also closely associated with Wike in the PDP’s internal politics.
The late politician is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih, his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih, as well as his brothers, sisters and other members of his extended family.
The family appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to keep them in their prayers as they come to terms with his death.
