The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new procedure allowing candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email accounts to update their contact details.
Gatekeepers News reports that the board announced the policy change on its X handle on Monday, September 21, 2026, saying eligible candidates can now change their registered GSM numbers and/or email addresses through a secure process involving identity and biometric verification.
According to JAMB, the service commenced on Monday and is available exclusively at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) Professional Test Centre (PTC) and Professional Registration Centre (PRC) facilities, including state offices where applicable.
Service Available Once
JAMB said the policy review was introduced specifically to assist candidates who had lost access to their registered SIM cards or email accounts.
“Lost access to your registered SIM or email? JAMB has reviewed its policy to allow candidates with genuine cases to update their GSM number and/or email address through a secure and controlled process,” the board stated.
The examination body said the service could be accessed only once by each eligible candidate and would be subject to strict identity and biometric verification.
Affidavit Required
JAMB said candidates seeking to update their contact details must have their new GSM number and/or email address ready.
They are also required to provide a duly executed court affidavit, which must be scanned and prepared for upload as part of the verification process.
The board reiterated that all requests must be processed at designated JAMB CBT (PTC/PRC) centres, including state offices where applicable.
JAMB also advised candidates to protect their personal information and avoid using unauthorised agents or channels.
“Do not patronise unauthorised persons or channels,” the board warned.
