Nigerian artistes Burna Boy and Tems were among the nominees at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, but neither artiste won in their respective categories.
Gatekeepers News reports that Burna Boy was nominated alongside Shakira for “Dai Dai” in both the Best Collaboration and Best Latin categories. Tems was nominated for Best R&B alongside Dave for “Raindance.”
Madonna emerged as the night’s biggest winner, taking home seven awards, including Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Dance, Best Cinematography, Best Choreography, Best Long Form Video and Best Album.
Taylor Swift won Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia” and Best Direction for “Opalite”, while BTS won Song of the Year and Best K-Pop for “SWIM”.
The 2026 ceremony was held on September 27 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with Snoop Dogg serving as host.
