Danielle Adewusi, who represented Lagos State, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2026 after defeating 19 other contestants at the grand finale in Lagos.
Gatekeepers News reports that the finale was held on Sunday at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, following weeks of camp activities, advocacy projects, talent showcases and stage performances.
Adewusi secured the crown after the final question-and-answer session. According to the organisers, she impressed the judges with her “confidence, intelligence, elegance and commitment to social impact.”
Guy Murray-Bruce, president of the Silverbird Group and national director of Miss Universe Nigeria, crowned Adewusi at the end of the ceremony.
Anita Osikhena of Edo State emerged as the first runner-up, while Myya Jones of Cross River State was named second runner-up. Oluwafunmibi Ajaja of Ekiti State and Melissa Toghanro of Delta State finished as third and fourth runners-up respectively.
Adewusi is a medical doctor who studied at King’s College London, where she obtained an MBBS and a first-class BSc in Psychology. She also founded Scrub The Stigma, a women’s health organisation focused on education and advocacy in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Her advocacy project, which focuses on women’s health education and access to healthcare, will form part of her representation of Nigeria at the international competition.
The new queen is scheduled to represent Nigeria at the 75th Miss Universe Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on November 24, 2026.
