Ex-Polotical Leader And Businessman Ralph Obioha Is Dead

Chief Ralph Obioha, a Nigerian political leader and businessman, has died at the age of 80.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Obioha family announced his death in a statement signed by Chima Obioha, his son, on behalf of the family.

According to the statement, Chief Obioha, who was also known as Okpuruisizuruoha II of Arondizuogu, died on Saturday, October 3, 2026, in Enugu, Nigeria.

Obioha was a prominent figure in Nigerian politics and was associated with the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), a pro-democracy group that campaigned against military rule in the country.

The family described him as a patriot, elder statesman, political leader and businessman whose life spanned various business sectors as well as Nigeria’s political and socio-economic space.

It said he was deeply committed to Nigeria’s progress and the ideals of service, leadership and nation-building.

The family also described him as a beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend, saying his kindness, strength, humour, generosity, faith and devotion to his family would be remembered.

“His passing has left an immeasurable void in our family, but we find comfort in the fullness of his life, the people he touched, and the legacy of service he leaves behind,” the family said.

The family expressed gratitude for the prayers, condolence messages and expressions of love received following his death.

It, however, requested privacy as the family mourns and comes to terms with the loss.

Details of the memorial and funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
