Comedian AY Offers Free Cardiff Show After Failed UK Concert

Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has offered to stage a free show in Cardiff, United Kingdom, on November 7 after failing to perform at his scheduled concert in the city.

Gatekeepers News reports that the comedian announced the plan on Thursday, saying he was willing to extend his stay in the UK and rearrange his travel plans to make up for the disappointment suffered by fans who attended the event.

The proposed performance follows the failure of his ‘AY Live: Single and Not Searching’ show at Valegate Retail Park in Cardiff on Sunday, October 25, which left several attendees complaining after waiting for hours without seeing him perform.

AY had earlier apologised to fans, attributing his absence from the stage to an unresolved payment dispute with the event organisers. He said the outstanding balance for his team’s performance had been due since September but remained unpaid despite assurances that it would be settled before the show.

In his latest statement, the comedian said, “This is what I want to do, my UK tour ends on November 1st. After that I am willing to stay, change my flight arrangements and organise my colleagues so that I can return to Cardiff on November 6 and give you a free show on November 7.”

He added that he would personally fund the proposed performance, bring other comedians and artistes who were available, and make arrangements for the event.

“I will pay for the show, bring my colleagues, invite other comedians and artistes who would be available for me,” he said.

AY also stated that ticket holders from the original event would be given priority access to the free show, although the venue and other logistical arrangements had yet to be finalised.

He stressed that the proposed performance would not prevent affected customers from seeking refunds for the failed event.

“Please understand that the free show does not remove your right for a refund for the original failed show,” he said.

The comedian added that his team had contacted the ticketing company over refunds, while calling on the organisers to explain how customers who purchased tickets would receive their money back.

AY said the proposed performance was his personal effort to compensate fans in Cardiff and those who travelled to attend the original event.

The incident drew criticism from disappointed attendees, some of whom accused the organisers of keeping them waiting for several hours without clear information about the comedian’s appearance.

AY’s remaining UK tour dates were scheduled for Birmingham on October 30, London on October 31 and Manchester on November 1.
