Sokoto Seeks Stronger Partnerships To Address Community Development Needs

Sokoto State Government has called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, development partners, community leaders and other stakeholders to sustain development interventions and address critical infrastructure challenges in benefiting communities across the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Bashir Muhammad Achida, made the call during the State Steering Committee Meeting of the Resilience, Engagement and Conflict Prevention for At-Risk Populations’ Protection (RECAP) Project in the state.

He commended the community-based interventions being implemented under the RECAP project, particularly those targeting agricultural productivity, healthcare delivery, education and improved access to essential social services.

Dr. Achida also highlighted the importance of the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) under his Ministry as a strategic partner in addressing community development needs, noting that its World Bank-supported programme presents opportunities for collaboration and additional funding for critical interventions.

The Commissioner challenged stakeholders to move beyond identifying problems and focus on developing practical solutions that would improve accessibility and facilitate the delivery of essential services to rural communities.

Speaking, the Special Adviser on Donor Agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations, Alhaji Abubakar Walin Gagi, expressed gratitude for the numerous interventions of the RECAP project across different communities.

In her remarks, the RECAP Consortium Coordinator, Remikat Blessing Ayuba, said the EU-supported project, being implemented by Action Against Hunger, Alert International and Save the Child Initiative, is aimed at strengthening community resilience, promoting engagement and preventing conflicts while protecting vulnerable and at-risk populations in nine local government areas.
