New Bride Killed In Anambra Sit-At-Home Attack

A twenty-two (22) year old newlywed bride was among the victims of the attacks by gunmen in Anambra communities on Monday.

Gatekeepers News reports that the gunmen had invaded the Nnewichi community in Nnewi North LGA and the Nnobi community in Idemili South LGA of the state. They shot sporadically and destroyed a lot of properties.

According to reports, the attackers were those who enforced a sit-at-home order in the south-east region.

The Anambra police spokesman, Tochukeu Ikenga confirmed that the twenty-two (22) year-old bride who was the only child of her parents was among the three victims of the attack.

According to a source in the family, before the bride was hit by stray bullet, she had her traditional marriage a week ago and was waiting for her husband who lives abroad to return.

The source said, “It was a heartbreaking incident and a heavy blow on the family yesterday (Monday). Her mum sent her to their farm to bring vegetables for the preparation of their food. On her way back home, she was hit by stray bullets during the gunfire between security officials and those dare-devil criminals.”

The spokesman added that the bride, and two other victims, were declared dead by doctors, after police operatives rushed them to the hospital.

He said “Two others are currently receiving treatment.”

None of the gunmen has been arrested as at the right time me of writing this report.

The spokesman noted that said the state commissioner of police, Nnaghe Itam has ordered an immediate manhunt of the gunmen.
