Court of Appeal has issued a directive ordering former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to present himself for arraignment in connection with allegations of misappropriating over N80 billion during his eight-year tenure.

Gatekeepers News reports that the court also restrained Bello from taking any further steps in the case unless he is arraigned.

This development comes after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to arrest Bello at his Abuja residence a few months ago, but was thwarted by Governor Usman Ododo. Bello’s whereabouts have since been unknown.

The Appeal Court’s ruling sets aside the judgment delivered by the Kogi State High Court, paving the way for Bello’s prosecution to proceed.

The EFCC is currently pursuing charges against Bello for alleged misappropriation of funds during his time as governor.
