President Bola Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Army for their successful counter-insurgency operations in the north-west, urging them to sustain their efforts to achieve lasting peace and security.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, quoted the President as saying: “The success of the operations gives further assurance that our security operatives are up to the task of ensuring the peace and security of the nation.”

Tinubu praised the military for neutralizing notorious bandit kingpins, including Kachallah Buzu and Halilu Sububu, and commended the bravery, intelligence agencies’ expertise, and troops’ dedication.

The President assured the security forces of his continued support to ensure the nation’s safety and security.

“He says the success of the operations gives further assurance that our security operatives are up to the task of ensuring the peace and security of the nation,” the statement reads.

Tinubu also lauded the military for freeing 13 kidnapped students in a busted terrorist enclave in Kaduna and thwarting a terrorist attack in Niger’s Shiroro LGA.

The President’s commendation comes after a series of successful military operations in the north-west, including the killing of at least 28 bandits in air strikes on Department of State Services facilities in Niger.
