FRSC Deploys Personnel For Edo Governorship Election

Corps Marshal of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed has directed the deployment of personnel to enforce vehicular movement restrictions and ensure smooth conduct of Edo governorship election coming up tomorrow, September 21.

Gatekeepers News reports that the corps marshal announced this through a statement released by FRSC spokesman, Olusegun Ogungbemide on Friday.

Mohammed instructed FRSC officers to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure compliance with movement restrictions during the election.

He also mandated personnel to clear road obstructions, carry out rescue operations in case of emergencies, and maintain order at polling stations.

In addition, FRSC deployed operational vehicles, tow trucks, and ambulances to strengthen enforcement and provide quick response during the election.

Emphasising professionalism, the corps marshal urged the officers to uphold rights of voters and avoid any actions that could disrupt the democratic process.

The statement goes, “As part of efforts put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the forthcoming Edo State Gubernatorial elections scheduled by the electoral umpire to hold on 21 September 2024, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has ordered Operatives of the Corps to collaborate with other security agencies to enforce compliance on restrictions of vehicular movement.”

“The directive issued by the Corps Marshal also mandated the personnel to clear obstructions from the roads, carry out rescue operations in case of emergencies, and maintain orderliness in polling booths.”

“In the same vein, adequate mobilisation has also been made for operational tools including deployment of vehicles, tow trucks, as well as ambulances to strengthen enforcement of restrictions during the entire process of the election.”

“He warned the personnel deployed to play an active role in the democratic exercise.”
