Management of ThisDay Newspaper has disowned a fake digital copy of its Friday publication.
Gatekeepers News reports that ThisDay Newspaper said the fake digital copy of its Friday publication was doctored with some misrepresentation on its front page against Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodinma.
The Managing Director (MD) of ThisDay, Eniola Bello, made this known in a statement.
Bello pointed out that the doctored publication with the headline: “Shocking: Uzodinma declares Free Marriage Between Fulani Settlers and Imo Ladies” circulated on social media platforms is fake news.
The MD, while stating that at no time did ThisDay publish the said story, noted that the lead story of the newspaper on Friday, August 27 was, “Buhari Elated as NNPC Breaks Jinx, Declares N287bn Profit, First in 44 Years”.
ThisDay management, however, urged members of the public who may have unwittingly fallen for the cloned digital copy to disregard it.
Bello, therefore, called on security agencies to help unmask and arrest the counterfeiters behind the forgery.
