‘I Deeply Regret It’ - Abia Rep Ikwechegh Apologises For Assaulting Bolt Driver
A disturbing incident involving a member representing Aba North & South Federal Constituency,  Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh and a Bolt delivery rider has sparked outrage in Nigeria.

Gatekeepers News reports that the rider allegedly called the him to collect a package outside his Abuja home, but Ikwechegh took offence, feeling disrespected. The situation escalated, with the senator, who is the All Progressives Grand Alliance member, allegedly slapping the rider three times, damaging his phone, and tearing his shirt.

He said, “Do you know who I am? I can make this man (driver) disappear from the whole of Nigeria, and nothing will happen. Can you imagine this rat? I am not going to give this boy one naira of my money.

“I am not going to call my policemen to beat you up. I will do that myself. I will show you that I am a big brother. I will tie you up, lie you down and put you in my generator house. Do you know where you are? Because you saw me sitting outside here. Look at this monkey.”

Despite the Ikwechegh’s admission of the assault and boasts of using his power to silence the rider, many Nigerians surprisingly sympathise with Ikwechegh, arguing the delivery rider should have delivered the package to his doorstep.

Advocacy groups, including VeryDarkMan, have taken up the case, vowing to seek justice for the rider. The incident highlights concerns about abuse of power and accountability among public officials in Nigeria.
