Netanyahu Appoints New Israeli Ambassador To US

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has named Yechiel Leiter, a U.S.-born former senior official in Israel’s Finance Ministry, as new Israeli ambassador to United States.

Gatekeepers News reports that Netanyahu in a statement released on Friday, praised Leiter for his diplomatic skills, eloquence, and in-depth knowledge of American culture and politics.

He said, “Yechiel Leiter is a highly capable diplomat, an eloquent speaker, and possesses a deep understanding of American culture and politics.”

Leiter previously served as chief of staff in Israel’s Finance Ministry deputy director general of Education Ministry and acting chairman of Israel Ports Company.

His appointment was approved by Yisrael Ganz, head of Yesha Council, an umbrella organization representing Jewish settlements in West Bank amongst others.

Leiter’s appointment came three days after Donald Trump was re-elected as U.S. president.
