President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia today, 10 November 2024 to attend Joint Arab-Islamic Summit.
Gatekeepers News reports that the summit, scheduled to begin on Monday, is being held at invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga announced this through a statement released on Saturday.
According to Onanuga; the meeting is expected to address several critical regional issues, with particular emphasis on the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict.
The president is expected to speak on the crisis, reiterating Nigeria’s stance for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.
Onanuga noted that Nigeria will push for renewed international efforts to revive the two-state solution as a viable path to lasting peace.
The statement goes, “During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, emphasising Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.”
“Nigeria will also advocate for renewed efforts to revive the two-state solution as a pathway to lasting peace in the region.”
Tinubu will be accompanied by Yusuf Tuggar, minister of foreign affairs; Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser; Mohammed Idris, information minister; and Mohammed Mohammed, director-general of National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
The president will return to Abuja after the conclusion of the summit.
