Police public relations officer (PPRO) in Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Josephine Adeh has expressed concern over the increasing number of abandoned babies in the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that Adeh spoke about the alarming issue in a post on her official X account on Sunday, attributing the cause to men abandoning women after impregnating them.
The PPRO urged men who are not ready for the responsibility of fatherhood to either avoid unprotected s*x or abstain totally.
She wrote, “The increasing number of abandoned babies in the FCT is alarming. Just yesterday, two new cases were reported. This troubling trend is largely due to men abandoning women after impregnating them. If you are not prepared to take responsibility for fatherhood, avoid unprotected sex or abstain from it.”
This is not the first time the force’s spokesperson has spoken about some men’s irresponsible behaviour.
Earlier in July, Adeh lamented the rate at which some Nigerian men break women’s hearts, describing such behavior as “distasteful.”
She wrote, “It’s distasteful to lead a woman on and then break her heart. The rate at which men are doing this is saddening. Most of the calls I receive these days are from women sharing their experiences in tears. Men, please, don’t start a relationship if you don’t want anything serious.”
