Tinubu Postpones 2025 Budget Presentation To Wednesday

President Bola Tinubu has rescheduled the presentation of the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget to the National Assembly from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Gatekeepers News reports that this announcement was made by the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) in a statement released on Monday.

Alkali Umar, the Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resource and Staff Development of the NASC, confirmed that the budget presentation would now take place on December 18.

“I am directed to inform you that the presentation of 2025 Budget by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, has been postponed to Wednesday, 18th December, 2024,” Alkali said.

“Staff are to resume their normal duties tomorrow, as the controlled entry instructions earlier given would be observed on Wednesday, 18th December, 2024.”

On November 14, the federal government proposed a total expenditure of N47.9 trillion for the 2025 budget. Following this, President Tinubu submitted the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) for the years 2025–2027 to both the Senate and the House of Representatives on November 19.

The MTEF/FSP outlines the parameters on which the country’s budget is based and serves as a three-year projection of the federal government’s spending plan.

The Senate approved the MTEF/FSP on December 3, in preparation for the consideration of the 2025 budget proposal. During a plenary session on December 12, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced that President Tinubu would present the 2025 budget on December 17.
