Some bandits have reportedly attacked a mosque in Birnin Yaro village, Zamfara state, and abducted many worshippers.
Gatekeepers News reports that Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region revealed this.
The publication noted that the attack was led by Bello Turji, a notorious warlord, and his armed men during Isha prayers on Friday night.
According to reports; the attackers herded the victims whose exact number is unknown, into the forest.
There has been an increase in the rate of kidnapping for ransom in northern part of the county in recent times. About 46 people, including women and children, were kidnapped in a raid on Gana town in Zamfara state last week.
Some gunmen on motorbikes reportedly attacked the town, shooting sporadically and setting fire to several homes and businesses.
At least 43 people were abducted by gunmen in Kakidawa, Gidan Goga district, Maradun LGA of the state in December.
