EPL: Nwaneri Shines As Arsenal Trash Man City 5-1

Arsenal thrashed Manchester City 5-1 in their English Premier League (EPL) clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Gatekeepers News reports that Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz, and Ethan Nwaneri were all on target for the Gunners.

Erling Haaland scored Man City’s only goal in the match where Pep Guardiola’s side struggled to contain Arsenal’s relentless attack.

The home side took the lead just two minutes into the match following a defensive error from Manuel Akanji. The City defender’s misplaced pass allowed Havertz to intercept and set up Odegaard, who slotted the ball into the net.

City responded strongly but failed to break down Arsenal’s solid defense in the first half. However, ten minutes after the restart, Haaland leveled the score with a powerful header from Savinho’s cross.

Arsenal quickly regained control, reclaiming the lead just two minutes later. Partey unleashed a long-range strike that deflected off John Stones, wrongfooting the goalkeeper and nestling into the net. Five minutes later, Lewis-Skelly extended the lead with a stunning strike, marking his first senior goal in style.

The Gunners continued to dominate, and Havertz made it 4-1 with a well-placed curling shot into the far post, finishing off a swift counterattack. Deep into added time, 17-year-old Nwaneri added the final blow, slotting home a composed finish to cap off an emphatic victory.

With this win, Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 14 matches while City got their first league defeat in seven games.

The Arteta’s men remain in second place with 50 points from 24 matches, narrowing Liverpool’s lead at the top to six points.

Meanwhile, City, now winless in their last three meetings against Arsenal, stay in fourth with 41 points.
