I Support Tinubu’s Economic Reforms – He Has Demonstrated Courage— Otti

Alex Otti, Governor of Abia, has declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms.

Gatekeepers News reports that Otti spoke on the economic reforms on Sunday while receiving Orji Kalu, senator representing Abia north; and Chris Adighije, a former lawmaker; at his residence in Isiala-Ngwa south LGA.

During the meeting, Kalu praised Otti for his development strides in Abia and appealed for continued support for the president.

In response, Otti said his alignment with Tinubu’s economic agenda is not based on politics, but on shared economic views.

He said, “When you talk about supporting President Tinubu, the president and l are very good friends and our friendship predates party politics and current positions.”

“We agree on so many issues; as it is natural, we know where we disagree. But, when you talk about the economy, what Mr president is doing has always been my position for a long time.”

“I urge people to go back and read my columns at the back of ThisDay newspaper some years back, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where I said that it was time to remove fuel subsidy when off-takers were rejecting crude shipped to them.”

“So, it requires somebody with courage to remove that subsidy, and I support it. We have behaved in an irresponsible manner for a very long time.”

“When you have years of irresponsible behaviour, the correction would be tough, challenging, and painful. It is the correction that we are going through now. If we don’t lose faith, we will eventually get it right.”

“So, talking about supporting the president, it is a no-brainer. I will continue to support him because it is the same administration.”

In his remarks, Kalu said commended Otti for fixing th state’s roads and improving the standard of living, adding that the people would continue to support him due to his performance.
