A federal high court in Abuja has fixed October 7 for the arraignment of key executives of MultiChoice Nigeria Limited over alleged breaches of Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA), 2018.

Gatekeepers News reports that those listed for arraignment include Adewunmi Ogunsanya, chairman of MultiChoice Nigeria, and John Ugbe, the company’s managing director and CEO.

Others include senior staff members Adebusola Bello, Fuad Ogunsanya, and Gozie Onumonu, the company’s head of regulatory affairs and government relations.

Top executives from MultiChoice Africa Holdings including Fhulufhelo Badugela, CEO; Retiel Tromp, chief financial officer for Africa; and Keabetswe Modimoeng, group executive for corporate affairs were also listed in the suit.

Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) is prosecuting the case, which includes a seven-count charge filed on May 26 under suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/197/2025.

One of the charges accuses MultiChoice Nigeria of failing to honour a lawful summons issued by the commission on February 25. The company allegedly failed to appear at the FCCPC’s Asokoro office on March 6 without justification, a violation of Section 33(3) of the FCCPA.

In another count, Ogunsanya, Ugbe, and others are accused of obstructing the commission’s investigation by refusing to provide requested documents, contrary to Section 110 of the Act.

At Tuesday’s court sitting, none of the defendants were present, reportedly due to improper service of court papers.

FCCPC counsel Chizenum Nsitem requested an adjournment to allow for proper service of hearing notices and relevant processes.

Justice James Omotosho granted the request and postponed the case to October 7 for the defendants to take their pleas.
