Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike have put aside their differences and agreed to work together for the progress of the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the development comes after a meeting between Fubara, Wike, and suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Fubara, who has been suspended for three months, expressed optimism that the meeting signals a return to peace in the state.
“What we need for the progress of Rivers State is peace, and by the special grace of God, and with the help of Mr. President and with the agreement of the leaders of the state, peace has returned in Rivers State,” he said.
Wike, who had a fallout with Fubara over control of structures in the state, also expressed joy over the development. “We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor has also agreed to work with all of us,” he said.
“We are members of the same political family… everything is over and in joy. We have all agreed on everything, so we thank Almighty God.”
The meeting between Fubara and Wike is a significant development in the state’s politics, coming after a long-drawn impasse that led to Fubara’s suspension.
President Bola Tinubu had suspended Fubara, his deputy, and members of the Rivers Assembly in March 2025 and appointed a sole administrator to run the state.
