Federal Government has blamed a technical glitch at Zenith Bank for the delay in the payment of June 2025 salaries to some civil servants.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement released on Friday, the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) said the issue affected employees whose salary accounts are domiciled with Zenith Bank.
Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, explained that a technical glitch disrupted the payment process for workers across several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The statement reads, “Upon investigation, it was discovered that the salary payments for employees across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were affected due to a technical network glitch in the bank.”
Acknowledging the distress the delay may have caused, Mokwa expressed regret and assured affected workers that corrective measures are being taken to address the situation.
He said, “The OAGF understands the anxiety and frustration this situation has caused, particularly given the importance of timely salary payments to the livelihoods and responsibilities of our valued public servants.”
He urged federal workers affected by the delay to remain calm, adding that reprocessing of the failed transactions is already in progress.
Mokwa said the OAGF is working closely with the relevant service providers and stakeholders to ensure the failed payments are reprocessed without further delay.
He said, “Concrete steps have already been taken to isolate the problem, and arrangements are underway to reprocess the failed payments in the shortest possible time.”
“The welfare of federal government employees remains a top priority of the OAGF.”
Mokwa also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to employee welfare, noting that the OAGF is actively working on settling the remaining four months’ arrears of the N35,000 wage award once the June salary issues are resolved.
He emphasised that the Accountant-General remains dedicated to ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in payroll administration.
The statement concluded, “ We are open to continuous engagement with stakeholders to ensure sustained improvements in our service delivery. Your patience and understanding during this difficult time are highly appreciated.”
