A new political group, Bring Back Our Goodluck (BBOG), on Thursday called on former president Goodluck Jonathan to join the presidential race in 2027 and contest against incumbent president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Gatekeepers News reports that the BBOG group, led by its National Chairman, Dr. Grema Kyari, said the North will massively vote for former president Jonathan, should he accept to run for president ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Grema disclosed this during a press conference held in Maiduguri, Borno State capital where he told journalists that former president Goodluck Jonathan has all it liberate Nigeria from the current “economic doldrums”.

According to him, ” The Nigeria of today is struggling under the weight of economic hardship, rising insecurity, and deepening divisions. Citizens are losing trust in the very institutions meant to protect and serve them”.

The National Chairman added that ” On behalf of Bring Back Our Goodluck, I call on all well-meaning Nigerians, from the North to the South, East to West, to join hands in urging Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, to once again answer the call of history.

The BBOG leader stated that prices of goods, services, and particularly food will be affordable, “just like it was during President Goodluck Jonathan’s first tenure ”

He revealed that the North was misled into voting out former President Jonathan in 2015 based on fake and unverified insecurity narratives. ” But we’re aware now that those insecurity narratives were fake and misleading.”

“I come before you not only as the National Chairman of Bring Back Our Goodluck but as a witness to history and as a Nigerian who, like millions of others, was once misled. I am from Borno State, one of the epicentres of the Boko Haram insurgency.

“During the presidency of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, a damaging narrative was that he sponsored Boko Haram and used the widely spread in our communities – military to suppress us. These lies thrived in an environment of limited and restricted access to truth. But today, with broader exposure and clearer understanding, I know those accusations were false.

“On behalf of myself and countless fellow Nigerians who were victims of that misinformation, I extend a heartfelt public apology to Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. We now recognize that he was a leader of integrity, compassion, and national vision. We now believe that President Goodluck Jonathan was removed from office in 2015 as a result of “regime change” orchestrated by foreign powers, especially the Democrats-Obama/Biden US administration of 2014 in connivance with some desperate politicians in Nigeria.” The National Chairman of BBOG said.
